नानक, सोहं हंसा जपु जापहु त्रिभवण तिसै समाहि

ਬੂਝਹੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਬੂਝਣਾ ਏਹ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ बूझहु गिआनी बूझणा एह अकथ कथा मन माहि ॥ Boojʰhu gi▫aanee boojʰ▫ṇaa éh akaṫʰ kaṫʰaa man maahi. O spiritual teachers, understand this: the Unspoken Speech is in the mind.

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਅਲਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ बिनु गुर ततु न पाईऐ अलखु वसै सभ माहि ॥ Bin gur ṫaṫ na paa▫ee▫æ alakʰ vasæ sabʰ maahi. Without the Guru, the essence of reality is not found; the Invisible Lord dwells everywhere.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਜਾਂ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ सतिगुरु मिलै त जाणीऐ जां सबदु वसै मन माहि ॥ Saṫgur milæ ṫa jaaṇee▫æ jaaⁿ sabaḋ vasæ man maahi. One meets the True Guru, and then the Lord is known, when the Word of the Shabad comes to dwell in the mind.

ਆਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਗਇਆ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ आपु गइआ भ्रमु भउ गइआ जनम मरन दुख जाहि ॥ Aap ga▫i▫aa bʰaram bʰa▫o ga▫i▫aa janam maran ḋukʰ jaahi. When self-conceit departs, doubt and fear also depart, and the pain of birth and death is removed.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਈਐ ਊਤਮ ਮਤਿ ਤਰਾਹਿ ॥ गुरमति अलखु लखाईऐ ऊतम मति तराहि ॥ Gurmaṫ alakʰ lakʰaa▫ee▫æ ooṫam maṫ ṫaraahi. Following the Guru’s Teachings, the Unseen Lord is seen; the intellect is exalted, and one is carried across.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਹੰ ਹੰਸਾ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪਹੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਤਿਸੈ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ नानक सोहं हंसा जपु जापहु त्रिभवण तिसै समाहि ॥१॥ Naanak sohaⁿ hansaa jap jaapahu ṫaribʰavaṇ ṫisæ samaahi. ||1|| O Nanak! Chant the chant of ’Sohang hansaa’ - ’He is me, and I am Him.’ The three worlds are absorbed in Him. ||1|| ~ SGGS 1093
